Katharine Peterson 1938–2019 Northfield—Katharine Peterson, age 80, passed away Tuesday morning, May 28, 2019, at The Estates of Bloomington. Katharine Taylor Peterson was born November 8, 1938, in Durham, North Carolina, to Dwight and Mary (Higgens) Taylor. She graduated from Hinsdale Township High School, Chicago, in 1956, and attended college before becoming a flight attendant. On June 8, 1962, Katharine married Silas Peterson in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, and they made Northfield their home. Katharine had long association with the Northfield Arts Guild as treasurer, Stanton Airfield and Northfield Historical Society as bookkeeper. She along with best friend, Kay Brown, were instrumental in creating the River Walk Art Fair. Kathy enjoyed horses and English style riding. She was brilliant with cross-word puzzles and loved her cigarettes and coffee. Survivors include by her daughter, Natalie Peterson Hale of Northfield; her granddaughter, Renee Hale (fiancé Douglas Roper) of Northfield; twin great-granddaughters yet to be born; her brother, John Taylor; her sisters, Harriet Bawtinheiner, Margaret Taylor and Mary Fowler; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, her son Pete (Silas III), her sisters Marion Hong and Winnifred Taylor, and her parents. A celebration of Katharine's life will be held this summer. Interment will be in Christdala Cemetery, Millersburg. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Northfield Historical Society or the Northfield Arts Guild.
