More than 200 people participated in the 2014 Martin Luther King Day Celebration on Monday.
Organized by the Northfield Human Rights Commission and held at the Church of St. Dominic, the event celebrated the creation of a beloved community.
Emceed by Bridgewater School Principal Nancy Antoine, four student groups were featured: Baile Folklórico Mexicano, the Northfield Union of Youth, the Northfield Youth Choir Troubadours, and NHS Performing Arts Students.
Before each performance, a member from that group shared their thoughts on the importance of community.
The 2014 Human Rights Award was presented to the family of Sharon Gates-Hull in honor of her gentle, persistent manner of treating all people with respect and working for issues of dignity, justice and peace in Northfield.
