This summer, Benedictine Living Community of Northfield presents two educational events on aging well. The events are free and open to the public, but space is limited. Call 507-512-5720 for reservations.
“Blue Zones: Secrets of a Long Life” will be at 4:30 p.m. June 24 at FiftyNorth, 1651 Jefferson Pkwy., Northfield. Based on the Blue Zone study — in-depth research of communities worldwide whose elders live with vim and vigor at record-setting ages — Dan Buettner will share the nine common diet and lifestyle habits that have kept individuals spry past age 100.
“Parenting Your Parents” will be at 5:30 p.m. July 16 at Viking Theater on the St. Olaf Campus (Buntrock Commons), 1520 St. Olaf Ave., Northfield. Author, actor and experienced son Jim Comer will provide practical tips on having difficult, family conversations, maintaining patience through the process, navigating challenging relationships and planning for everyone’s well-being, parents and children alike.
