Riverwalk Market Fair • 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. rain or shine at Bridge Square in historic downtown Northfield. This open-air market is a European-style farmers’ market open from June through October. Each Saturday features a different combination of organic and sustainably-grown produce from local farmers such as artisan foods, seasonal flowers and a juried selection of the region’s top art and fine crafts, including ceramics, art works, prints, photography, glasswork, textiles, wearable art, garden sculpture and handcrafted jewelry. Best Bike Rides Minneapolis and St. Paul • noon to 2 p.m. at FIT to be TRI'd in Northfield, 321 Division St. Steve Johnson, the Minnesota-based author of “Best Bike Rides Minneapolis and St. Paul: Great Recreational Rides in the Twin Cities Area” will be part of a book-signing event. The guide details in words and pictures some of the best trails in the Twin Cities area, along with nearby bike shops and maps.

Chuck and Don’s Pet Adoption with Prairie’s Edge • 1 to 3 p.m. at Chuck & Don’s, 1500 Clinton Lane, Suite A, Northfield. Prairie's Edge, formerly Rice County Humane Society, is dedicated to finding homes for animals throughout Minnesota. Volunteers can answer pet adoption questions and help find a new furry friend.

Messages to Heaven • 7:30 p.m. at Northfield High School. The Class of 2011 and Northfield community lost four remarkable members, Caitlin Kelly, David Rodgers, Becky Kasper and Rachel Frederickson in recent months. The Class of 2011 put together this memorial program to honor the four students' lives. At 8 p.m. the event moves out to the football field where biodegradable balloons will be for sale. The public can write messages to classmates and friends. Donations for memory bricks will be taken where proceeds will be divided evenly among the four families.
