The Santa Anonymous collection drive for 2012 is underway. Donors are asked to drop an unwrapped new toy or gift in one of the ten drop boxes located at area businesses. Locations include: Alco, Corner Drug, Cornerstone State Bank, Curves for Women, First Farmers and Merchants Bank, Friendly Confines, Home Plate, Home Town Bank, NAPA and Radermacher's Super Valu.

The Santa Anonymous program provides Christmas joy for children ages newborn to 18 years, living in Le Sueur County. The program has been serving families in need in Le Sueur County since 1977.

What kind of items are needed? The main focus of the program is to provide toys and gifts for children ages 18 (living at home and in school) and younger. Look for quality, educational, non-violent toys and buy with specific age groups in mind. Please avoid stuffed toys. Items appropriate for teenagers and babies are especially needed. Cash donations are always welcome and may be made at any of the three banks. The full amount of any cash donation will be used locally to purchase gifts.

Make your donations during business hours by Friday, Dec. 7. This gives time for the items to be collected and for county volunteers to get them ready for distribution. Donations received after the deadline will be saved and given out in 2013.

The "shopping" distribution for Santa Anonymous recipients is from noon until 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10 at St. Mary's Catholic Church Community Center, 165 North Waterville, Le Center. For information about the distribution call Cindy W. at 507-357-8298.
