At the Belle Plaine Motor Company, auto repair isn’t just a business, it’s a family tradition.
“I’ve been using a wrench since I was 12,” owner Chris Wyman remarked. “My father had an auto shop in Chanhassen a long time ago. My grandfather was the one who taught me how to work on cars.”
Today, Wyman owns and operates the Belle Plaine Motor Company with his three sons Daniel, Jack and Wyatt at a new location in Le Sueur, which had its grand opening on June 1.
Upon entering the shop, customers may find themselves face to face with a red 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle sitting in the lobby. It’s one of the used cars the Belle Plaine Motor Company has up for sale.
Full service and repair for automobiles, trucks and commercial vehicles is another one of the major offerings of the Belle Plaine Motor Company.
“We’ll repair anything from lawn equipment to trucks,” said Wyman.
The Belle Plaine Motor Company also offers U-Haul trailers for rent, towing, sells tires, consigns used vehicles and will aid customers in their automobile search.
Though the Le Sueur location is new, the Wyman family has been in the auto repair business for years. The new auto shop in Le Sueur is an expansion of their original business in Belle Plaine and the family’s experience dates back even farther.
“I’ve been in auto repair ever since I could walk,” said Jack Wyman. “We used to have a tractor business, but when that started becoming less profitable, we moved to cars.”
The family showed great enthusiasm for the work they do.
“You come out here every day and have something new to work on,” said Jack Wyman.
He pointed out a 2008 Ford F-250 up above on one of the lifts in the workshop. It was a truck that he had built himself.
“It’s one of my biggest pride and joys,” he said.
Chris Wyman says that he is happy with the location in Le Sueur and is glad to be a part of the community.
“The people here are very friendly,” he said.
Chris Wyman says that his company’s mission is “to help and to serve the community.”
