Survey of Rice Creek is promising, but shows room for improvement

While the brook trout population in Rice County’s only trout stream is doing swimmingly, improvement of Rice Creek’s water quality requires concerted conservation efforts in the future, according to preliminary findings from the Rice Creek Assessment Project.

“We have set down goals to do everything we can to preserve the creek,” said Kathleen Doran-Norton, a Bridgewater Township supervisor and volunteer for the Rice Creek project. “And we have put in place a plan that is the best we could put forward to achieve those goals.”
