Police were dispatched to the Hotel Faribault Apartments at 429 Central Ave. N in downtown Faribault shortly after 8 a.m. yesterday (Tuesday) on a report of a bloodied individual believed to be deceased at the bottom of a flight of steps. Capt. Neal Pederson confirmed that a body was found in a storage area below the apartments that is used by the tenants.
According to a press release, an employee of Boxer’s Bar told officers that she found the victim lying on the floor of the lower level of the building in a storage/entry area leading to the Hotel Faribault Apartments. The victim, who was identified as 61-year-old Michael Redding of Faribault, displayed obvious head wounds. Investigation at the scene indicated that the cause of death was accidental and foul play is not suspected. Redding was a maintenance worker at the apartments. An autopsy will be conducted by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office.
