UPDATE: 10:30 a.m.
The burning ban put in place on Wednesday by Rice County Sheriff Troy Dunn and the state DNR has been lifted.
The ban was initiated due to rising temperatures and high winds on Wednesday and into Thursday.
This restriction will go into effect at 6 a.m. Wednesday. All burning permits issued in Rice County are suspended until further notice. Only recreational campfires and grilling are allowed.
Per state statute, campfires cannot be more than three feet in diameter by three feet high.
“I would still caution citizens to use good judgment and exercise caution in grilling or recreational fires,” said Sheriff Troy Dunn.
